September process log

So process.. I usually start with taking a walk down a beach. I take photographs, I listen, gaze out at the ocean. At times I may be lucky enough to be alone, these are the walks I relish when I can take time to watch the light change during the time. Once in a while I will make water colour sketches out there. Here in BC we are really lucky with our air quality, you can feel clean inside out from a good walk on an epic beach.

The Seasonal palette springs from these first steps. I am all about season. In my local art scene  folks often ask why I stick with the same subject… Honestly, it chose me, I am a die-hard romantic the ocean is brimful of metaphor and makes a masterful muse. These previous images show the light change and some fantastic drifts of fog burning off. Then to play around, explore composition, basic edit tools, but no Preset  Instagram Filters I kind of find them to be like covering my own work with someone elses vision..

Having played around with the snaps, I am looking for ways forward. I would like to get myself into a printmaking studio at some point in the coming year. I love Etching, but its costly and requires time.. child free so not impossible but considerably hard to find currently. This first series for Autumn demands more than the “next step” .. perhaps drawing, ink, a hard surface, some mono prints. I need to go back into mark making now before I approach the canvas.

This is process.

I sign in every Sunday. I am not aiming to be punchy, to speak they way a magazine would, to thrill or to sell here in this blog. We have other spaces for that do we not? I am documenting process, for myself, thinking out-loud, and publish with the hope of allowing the viewer/student a little more than my Instagram. There will be blips I will be honest about hurdles.. but it’s not all drama. Tata for now.K x
